David Colagiovanni (Athens, OH) is an artist/composer who reconfigures and sequences video, sound and space. Colagiovanni will host The Shredder Sessions at Lump, where musicians from the Hopscotch Music Festival lineup (September 4th-6th) will improvise on a kinetic sound sculpture comprised of paper shredders, prepared chord organs, fire-bells, hand mixers, blenders, cymbals and other sound-making devices. Renowned audio engineer and artist David McConnell will produce and record the sessions, which will be free and open to the public.

Lump will be open to the public Friday/Saturday, September 5th & 6th from 12pm-6pm with live recording sessions with Hopscotch Artists. A special performance is scheduled during the First Friday Art Walk. Please pay attention to @siteworknc on twitter for announcements about the performances.

David Colagiovanni is an artist/composer living and working in Athens, Ohio who reconfigures and sequences video, space and sound. Colagiovanni received his BFA at The University of Maine, Orono and his MFA from The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. His video and sound works have been exhibited in festivals and galleries internationally including: The British Ceramics Biennial, Neon Digital Arts Festival in Dundee, Scotland, SNAP, in Alberta, Canada, File Hypersonica in SaÞo Paulo, Brazil, Zeiss Planetarium in Jena, Germany, Gallery SC in Zagreb, Croatia, Simultan Media Arts Festival in Timisoara, Romania and the Immersive Film Festival in Espinho, Portugal. Recent exhibitions in the US have included solo and collaborative shows at The Sculpture Center, HereArt in NYC, Lump in Raleigh, NC, Morehead Planetarium in Chapel Hill, NC and Gallery 621 in Tallahassee, FL. Colagiovanni is a member of the artist group Team Lump and a considerable amount of his practice exists in collaboration with artist Melissa Haviland under the moniker of Haviland & Colagiovanni. This is Colagiovanni’s second solo show with Lump.
