The Lumberton Barrier – A.A. Rucci

The Lumberton Barrier 06.01.04-06.27.04 “Tampa-based, internationally known artist A. A. Rucci opens a new show at LUMP Gallery in Raleigh this Friday, June 4 from 7-11 pm. The documentary-styled installation The Lumberton Barrier recreates the story of a concrete highway barrier found dumped in a river and the unfolding of the mystery surrounding how it came to be there. Rucci, a former archaeologist, combines scientific testing and investigation with documentary photography and research to trace the history and origin of the barrier. He also incorporates drawing and painting into the installation, which records his methods and presents the viewer with a detailed look into the process of answering the questions raised by this unusual find.” Excerpt from the INDY by Bronwyn Merritt Lump is located at 505 S.
